What is a House of Mercy?
  • The House of Mercy (HOM) is an extension of the Church of Kelowna, through its members’ homes, voluntarily serving their neighbourhoods through acts of mercy.

The Goal of the HOM
  • The goal is to have a House of Mercy identifiable on every street in the city.
  • The HOM will be identified by a flag.

What will the HOM do?
  • Each of the residents of these Houses of Mercy will:
    • Train and link all available community resources.
    • Encourage the development of a network of relationships on their street.
    • Develop bridge building activities to strengthen the sense of community.
    • Foster genuine friendships by getting people together and helping each other in practical ways.

  • Three core values are key to the function and the success of the Houses of Mercy. They express the heart of each House for their neighbours. They consist of the following:



  • The Houses of Mercy will connect people who need help to the available community resources.

Why the need for the HOM?
  • The churches need a contemporary solution to the healing and restoration of community within our city.
  • The city needs the help of its citizens; people helping people – not as a project, but as a lifestyle.
  • Community resources need to be networked.
  • Citizens need to be activated to a higher level of awareness as to the needs of their
    neighbours.
