Missions Work - Kelowna Christian Center

The final instruction that Jesus left his followers was this; God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life… Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all!

Kelowna Christian Center’s heart beats with a passion to see individuals and nations come to God. We believe that we have a part to play in Global Harvest, Transformation, Church Planting, Bible Translation and Salvation of Souls. Through generous giving, teams going out, and personal involvement we have seen many nations on many continents impacted. KCC has been involved in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and Central & South America.

The opportunities are fantastic, the harvest is ripe and we are motivated to play our part!

Our Missionaries

Brandi Watson

Brandi Watson is a missionary with YWAM Orlando.

Brandi has given her life to train up young people and is responsible for equipping teams for the mission field and taking them out to the nations. Her real passion is to make friends and share God's love with the Muslim people. She reaches out to Muslim women in the United States locally, as well as visiting and doing missions in countries like Turkey, Jordon, Egypt and Lebon and Israel. Brandi has a willing heart to go wherever God is calling her to go.

As members of Wycliffe Bible Translators, our vision is to see that every man, woman and child has access to the life-changing Word of God in the language that they understand best.  This is why in January 2003 we began living and working with an indigenous group in Mexico to learn their language and culture and translate the Bible into their language.

We are so thankful that people were willing to sacrifice their time, energy and even their lives to translate the Bible into English over 600 years ago. Our love for Christ also compels us to consider the 250 million people from 3,000 different languages who, 2,000 years after the death of Christ, still do not have even part of the Bible in their language.

One of the last things that Jesus said to his disciples was, “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them … and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you….” (Mat. 28:19-20a NIV).  Paul tells of the importance of God’s Word in this process when he says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV).  We believe that access to the Word of God in one’s heart language is of utmost importance for personal discipleship and for establishing stable, growing, Bible-believing, outreaching churches.

John & Angela Nickel

We have 4 churches and 2 missions churches under their covering that have sprung up from these churches as well as a Vocational Discipleship Training Institute and several Kingdom business projects that are operated by ex students so our vision for these churches is this:

AMISTAD CON DIOS (Friendship with God)

I see a church so large and on fire that it impacts our city, our region and all of Latin America; so prosperous spiritually as well as economically that it wakes up the desire of the multitudes to the God that can launch them in their dreams.

I see a church  passionate in worship, recognized for its generousity and mercy, praised for its integrity and sought after for its sincerity.

I see a congregation of disciples that are prospering in their families, economy, health, in their callings and ministry, serving a God of unity and harmony; breaking the barriers of religion, poverty and ignorance. I see a people that are the head and not the tail!

We see our churches as a training base that will take teams to the nations and will continue to church plant. Another aspect of our calling is to be a channel for young people in KCC who have a calling on their lives to experience what its like to live in another culture, learn another language and go through all the growth that happens when you go to the mission field, an experience that radically changes their lives.

Carl & Kathy Thompson

God has called each of us to make disciples. It is our desire to do that with every person we meet, whether at home or abroad. We desire to see each person discover and live out God's intentions for their lives. God made each one different because He has a specific calling and purpose for each one.

Currently, we are working to see transformation to come to Elias Pina, Dominican Republic where many have a fatalistic view of life under the control of an angry God. We know that we serve a loving God who has great plans for His people and wants them to know Him and realize the plan He has for them. We work alongside the local church. We teach, train and share His love through daily life as we live and work alongside the people in education, health, agriculture, government, and business. We take every opportunity to share His character and truth with those we meet. Our desire is not to do things for them but to help them to do things for themselves, using their own resources that God has given them to see their lives change so that they can in turn show others how to change. May God receive all of the glory as He changes them.

Graham & Lynnea Jackson

The Jackson family live and do ministry in Victoria, BC.  Graham moved there in 1994 to organize the Youth With A Mission outreach to the Commonwealth Games. After the Games were over, he felt God directing him to remain in Victoria to pioneer a fulltime YWAM location.  Since that time YWAM Victoria has done many things, but currently we are focused in four areas.

  1. First Nations ministry to the Pacheedaht (Port Renfrew) & Tsartlip (Brentwood Bay) communities.
  2. Mission Adventures.  MA hosts church & school outreach teams to our city & First Nations communities.
  3. City Church.  We are actively involved in working with local pastors & churches to work together at being the Church of the city.  Over the last few years we have seen much progress in this area.
  4. Online discipleship training.  We are working at putting our discipleship training school teachings online.
