Planning for a 1,000 Generation Impact
“You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments” – Ex 20:6-7
Introduction
• The difference between Asian and American planning is 4,495 years• We often have difficulty thinking and planning beyond five months – even the best of us
• God is a multi-generational God
–Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph (Ex 3:6)
• God is guiding the destiny of the generations of the nations (Isa 41:4)
• Scripture affirms this
–Gen 9:12; Gen 17:7; Ex 12:42; Ex 16:32-4; Ex 31:13;
–1 Chron 16:15; Ps 33:11
• God remembers generations (Ex 2:24)
