KCC Newsletter - John and Angela Nickel

Dear KCC Family,

We want to wish you a wonderful Christmas this year and may God's blessings be poured out on you as you share His love with others.

God has been faithfull again this year in so many ways and we'd like to share a bit of that with you.  Our Vocational DiscipleshipI school is continuing to develop as it ministers to the needs of the youth that come to our churches. The year we started we had 8 girls that basically were grounded in the Word so it was easier taking them to the next level of understanding of the Word, ministry and business. John is still working with them in developing their businesses as they go through the stages of Kingdom Business deveolpment. We have placed women elders beside them to continue to help them with their spiritual and emotional needs.

The next group that came in were basically brand new Christians or non-christians that wanted to change. We had a drug addict, ex-con, pregnant teenager, homosexual and a few others that came from disfunctional families. We saw an incredible change in them as God did his work in their hearts and set them free from the bondages they were in.  The pregnant teenager had her baby half way through the year and Evelyn became an integral part of the school, our family and the church.

This year we are continuing second year with 2 of these students, the single mom Valentina ( Chris & Gonzalas sister), and one of the boys Ulises.  Both didn't have fathers to nurtue them so we are helping them grow into responsible adults in work and homelife.  Every day we have a devotional with them and then their classes. We've started a car wash for the boys right in front of the church and Valentina is learning the pizza and restaurant business with her sister Gonzala.

This year we have 3 students in the first year class though they aren´t taking all the classes that we normally teach because they aren't ready for them. So we are adapting our teaching and training to their growth level which is what discipleship is all about.

More detailed info on 1st year students:

Zuri is a deaf and mute girl from Pinotepa. She loves the Lord and is participating in the devotional with Angela. Since Angela didn't know sign language before, she is learning as they work their way through the scriptures. Then Zuri helps in the cafeteria where she is learning work ethics. At first she would work for 5 minutes and then wander off. If she would be asked to do something she would just say NO or LATER.  So she is slowly  learning how to work, how to cook and how to take care of herself. She's gotten enough confidence now to attend customers and serve tables and even cook. So she has come a long ways.

She is living with Valentina and Gonzala in the girl's house so the other girls have had to learn sign language as well.  God has shown us that he brought her into our lives because there is a whole nation of deaf and mute people that need to "hear" the gospel in their own language.

Lalo is a young man that came to the church one day with an ex-student and asked if he could  live at the church and learn. He ran away from home when he was 8 years old to live with his grandmother who now says she can´t handle him anymore. He's fifteen now and was known for being a fighter and one of the worst kids in Zicatela. The first day in class Angela led him to the Lord and we have seen a tremendous change in him as he grows in the Lord. We see great potencial in his life as he is very smart but has never had a chance to be fathered in life. Josiah has been a great influence on him and has been teaching him english as he learns spanish from Lalo. He goes to the Zicatela church with Salvador and Teresa. Salvador is in charge of the carwash business and is learning to disciple these young men.

Sergio is just 13 years old and came as a recruit of Lalo. He as well lives in Zicatela and has started going to the church there. His mom works all day and doesn't have time for him and his dad was sent to jail for robbery last month. So he doesn't have anyone watching over his life.  He is basically a street kid so we are learning how to work with him since he decides what he does and will suddenly disappear or lie to get out of work. The first day he gave his heart to the Lord but we are still waiting for the fruit to manifest.

So we thank God for the challenges before us as we learn so much and gain so much wisdom dealing with these new young people that really need a father figure in their lives. So we need your prayers as we continue to serve the Lord this way.

IN memory of Mary

Mary is one of the girls who went to Canada with us. She was developing in worship, playing the piano, leading worship and preaching as well as running her business.  She went to be with the Lord Monday morning, she was 22 years old. Six weeks ago she started having pain in her neck and shoulders which she thought was just a pinched nerve but it wouldn't improve. Then this last week she lost the sensation in half of her body so they took her to the hospital in Oaxaca on Friday. While in the hospital she lost the movement and sensation in the other side of her body. Then she went into coma and Monday morning she went to be with the Lord. The autopsy showed the she had bonemarrow cancer. It had started at the center of her spine and was eating up to her neck which is where she started to feel it. The last message that she preached to the youth was from 1 Timothy 4:12  Challenging the youth to serve God with integrity.

We thank you all for your prayers and support on behalf of all these young people that have had their lives transformed by the institute in Puerto Escondido.

God bless you
